The borough of Ocean Gate, New Jersey was created from portions of Berkeley Township in 1918. The borough is situated on the southern banks of the Toms River, across from Island Heights. Ocean Gate is northeast of Beachwood and southeast of Toms River, and borders Pine Beach and Berkeley Shores.
