Situated on the Delaware River in Burlington County, New Jersey, the borough of Riverton was incorporated in 1893 from parts of Cinnaminson Township. Riverton is bounded by Cinnaminson Township, Palmyra, and the Delaware River. The townsite was laid out by a Philadelphia architect, Samuel Sloan, and established in 1851, initially as a community of summer homes for Philadelphians. More than half of its buildings are listed on State and National Directories of Historic Places.
