The borough of Shiloh is in Cumberland County, New Jersey, bordered by Hopewell Township and Stow Creek Township. Although not incorporated until 1929, the borough was founded in 1705 by Robert Ayars, who brought over two thousand Seventh-day Adventists from Rhode Island, looking to be free from religious persecution. The town was originally known as Cohansey Corners.
