South Hackensack, New Jersey is a township in Bergen County. What is now South Hackensack was originally Lodi Township, created in 1826. Portions of Lodi Township were taken to form Harrison Township and the boroughs of Hasbrouck Heights, Little Ferry, Lodi, Moonachie, and Teterboro, with the remainder becoming South Hackensack in 1935. Due to the formation of boroughs within its limits, South Hackensack is split into three sections. The most highly populated section is adjacent to Hackensack, Little Ferry and Teterboro; another is between Garfield, Lodi, Wallington and Wood-Ridge; and a small portion of the township consists of the industrial areas in the Meadowlands, between Carlstadt, Moonachie and Ridgefield.
