Tewksbury Township is in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. The township was formed in 1755, and was incorporated as one of New Jersey’s original townships in 1798. Its original settlers were English, who came prior to a formal community being formed, and a large group of Germans came to the area in 1749. The township includes the historical enclave of Oldwick, as well as the communities of Cokesbury, Mountainville, and Pottersville. Zion Lutheran Church, in Oldwick, is the oldest Geman Lutheran parish in New Jersey.
