Walpack, in Sussex County, New Jersey, was formally incorporated as a township in 1798, although it was mentioned as Walpake in 1731, when the area was in Hunterdon County. In 1932, Henry Ford produced a film about his automobiles and new V-8 engine outside the Walpack Post Office. The township is located in northern New Jersey, in the Minisink Valley, which extends from the Delaware Water Gap north to Port Jervis, New York. Walpack Township was one of only four municipalities in New Jersey with a double-digit population, as of the 2010 census, when its population was sixteen.
