West Cape May, New Jersey was incorporated as a borough in 1884, separating from Lower Township. The borough is in Cape May County, bordering Lower Township and Cape May City, and is one of the four jurisdictions that comprise Cape Island. Several of West Cape May’s buildings date to the Colonial period, although it was formerly known as Eldredge. West Cape May is a dry town, where alcohol cannot be sold.
