The borough of Westville, in Gloucester County, New Jersey, was formed from parts of Deptford and West Deptford townships in 1914, and reincorporated in 1924. What is now Westville was once a large Indian village. After the Leni Lenape, the area was settled by the Dutch, who built a fort there in 1624. After the Dutch, the Swedes occupied the area. The borough is bordered by Deptford Township, West Deptford Township, and Camden County.
