Abiquiu, New Mexico is a small, unincorporated town in Rio Arriba County, in northern New Mexico. Abiquiu was the third largest settlement in the Spanish province of Nuevo Mexico in the 1730s. The artist, Georgia O’Keeffe lived at the Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu for several years, and purchased a house in abiquiu, which she used as a residence and studio. The town is also mentioned in Willa Cather’s 1927 nove, “Death Comes for the Archbishop”.
