Aztec, New Mexico is the county seat of San Juan County. The Aztec Ruins National Monument, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just outside the city limits. The origins of the town predate New Mexico statehood. The town is east of Flora Vista and Spencerville, north of Bloomfield, and southwest of Cedar Hill. The larger city of Farmington is southwest of Aztec.
