The village of Corrales is in Sandoval County, New Mexico, bordered on the east by the Rio Grande and, across the river, by the Sandia Indian Reservation. Settled about 500 A.D., the current village was founded around 1710, primarily as an agricultural community. The village is increasingly finding it difficult to maintain its rural character in recent years, due to the rapidly growing cities of Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. The village was incorporated in 1971.
