Estancia, New Mexico is the seat of Torrance County. Estancia is situated on the eastern side of the Manzana Mountains. The town was shown on a famous map made in 1779, by Don Bernardo de Miera y Pacheco, as being “destroyed by enemies.” The Santa Fe Central Railroad came through in 1903, leading to the establishment of the current town.
