The city of Lordsburg is the seat of Hidalgo County, New Mexico, and the birthplace of the official state song, “O Fair New Mexico,” which was written by Elizabeth garrett, the blind daughter of famed sheriff, Pat Garrett, and a Lordsburg resident. Lordsburg was the site of a Japanese internment camp, which held as many as 1,500 Japanese-Americans during World War II. Lordsburg is located approximately midway between the larger cities of Tucson, Arizona and Las Cruces, New Mexico.
