Santa Rosa is a small town between Albuquerque and Tucumcari, along the Pecos River, and the seat of Guadalupe County, New Mexico. The first settlement in the area that was to become Santa Rosa was Aqua Negra Chiquita, which is Spanish for "Little Black Water". In 1890, the name was changed to Santa Rosa, for a chapel that its founder built and named after both his mother, Rosa, and Saint Rose of Lima.
