Andrews is a part of Valley Town Township, which dominates the eastern part of Cherokee County, and includes the towns of Andrews, Marble and Topton, with Andrews being the larger of the three. Andrews was known as Jamesville in the early 19th century, when the area was first being settled. Andrews was incorporated in 1905.
