Atlantic Beach, North Carolina is a town in Carteret County, and one of the five communities on Bogue Banks, a barrier island bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and Bogue Sound. From the 1870s to the late 1880s, it was built into a resort, changing hands and names several times over the years, but it wasn't until the 1930s that it grew into a town.
