Clyde is a small town, and a township, in Haywood County, North Dakota. Clyde Township was formed in 1877 from Pigeon, Beaverdam and Waynesville, although it was originally named Lower Pigeon. Later, it was renamed Clyde for the community that had grown up along the Pigeon River. Prior to the coming of the railroad in 1883, there were few people there; by 1889, the town was incorporated. Clyde is home to the Shook-Smathers Museum, built around 1795 by Jacob Shook.
