Located near the center of Cabarrus County, North Carolina, about twenty miles northeast of Charlotte, Concord serves as the county seat. Its history dates back to the 1700s, being formed as a solution to a disagreement between German and Scots-Irish settlers over where the county seat should be located, founded on a 26-acre site, and named Concord, meaning "harmony".
