Cooleemee, North Carolina is a town in Davie County. The community was founded in an area where there once was a plantation known as the Shoals Farm, the town grew up around a textile mill that was built there in the late 1800s, with over three hundred mill houses, a downtown square, and a hotel overlooking the river. When the mill closed in 1969, the community persisted, and was incorporated in 1985.
