Duck, North Carolina is Dare County’s northernmost community, and an east coast resort community in the Outer Banks. A new community, its residential history goes back only as far as 1960, when George Koenig bought a piece of land from the government and built a small cottage there, calling it Duck. Before long, it became a tourist destination, and then a town, incorporated in 2002.
