The town of Four Oaks is in Johnston County, North Carolina. The town was named by Colonel R.R. Bridgers, president of the Wilmington and Weldon Railroad, in 1886, after a grove of four oak trees, all growing from the same stump that had been felled thirty-seven years before. Four Oaks was chartered in 1889. Four Oaks is located along I-95, between Dunn and Smithfield.
