Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina is a town in Wake County. Fuquay-Varina arose from a merging of two adjacent communities. Fuquay Springs was founded by William Fuquay, who moved his family to the site following the Revolutionary War. In 1858, his grandson discovered a mineral spring there. During the Civil War, a post office was established at a crossroads just south of the spring, and named Varina Station. Incorporated in 1909, Fuquay Springs joined Varina in 1964 as one municipality.
