Gibsonville, North Carolina is in both Alamance and Guilford counties. The town was named for Joseph Gibson, son of Andrew Gibson, who was an emigrant from Scotland. Although Gibsonville was not incorporated until 1871, its post office bore that name since 1855, the date it opened for business. Gibsonville is west of Elon and Glen Raven, and east of McLeansville.
