Granite Quarry, North Carolina is a town in Rowan County. In the late 1800s, the community was known as Woodville. In 1891, a post office was established there under the name of Woodsides, and the town's name was officially changed to Woodsides in 1901. However, due to there being another town in North Carolina by that name, the name of its post office was changed to Granite Quarry in 1902, and its official name was changed in 1905.
