Hertford, North Carolina is the county seat of Perquimans County, in the North Carolina Inner Banks region. The town was incorporated as the county seat in 1758, and was primarily a lumber town through the first part of the 20th century. Herford is the home town of Catfish Hunter, who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1987, as well as the disc jockey known as Wolfman Jack, who buried in Hertford.
