King is a town in Stokes County, North Carolina. The town was originally named King's Cabin, for Charles and Francis King, who lived in a cabin there for a short while in the 1830s. Being Quakers and opposed to slavery, the brothers soon moved to the North, but their cabin was used as a reference by locals in giving directions to the area, and when a post office was established there in 1888, it was named for that point of reference.
