Around 1770, Samuel Davidson bought a piece of land which included the present site of Old Fort, consisting of 640 acres or one square mile. A stockade was raised upon a portion of this land, most likely by the militia raised to attack the Cherokee. The goal of this organization is to create a replica fort and to preserve the history of the region.
