Incorporated in 1873, the settlement at Reidsville dates back to the early 1800s when william Wright operated a tavern and store there. This outpost, called Wright's Cross Roads, was the earliest known settlement. Ruben Reid, for whom the town is now named, moved his family to a farm on the ridge between Wolf Island Creek and Little Troublesome Creek in 1814. Reidsville is located near the center of Rockingham County, North Carolina.
