The town of Spring Lake is located in the Sandhills region of Cumberland County, North Carolina. The area was first settled by pioneers who came from Scotland in the 1700s, but was not incorporated until 1951. Prior to that, the settlement was known as "Clayton Cut" and "Prince's Siding".
