Berthold, North Dakota is a city in Ward County. Frederick C. Walther, who was to become known as the father of Berthold, built the community’s first store, and helped in bringing about its first school and railroad station, and donated land for a city park and a cemetery. Berthold was incorporated as a village in 1902. The city is located between Tagus, to the northwest, and Lone Tree, to the southeast.
