Pataskala, Ohio is a city in Licking County, Ohio. Pataskala was a small village until 1996, when it merged with Lima Township, becoming a city in 1997. The first settler in the area was David Heron, who came in 1805, at the time when Richard Conine, who would later become known as the “father of Pataskala”, was visiting the region. Conine arranged to purchase two thousand acres of land in the area, platting a village which was first known as Conine, and later changed to Pataskala.
