The City of Piqua is in Miami County, Ohio. The community began as two separate communities, Upper Piqua and Lower Piqua, in 1780. The two settlements became one in 1800, and was incorporated in 1807. The village of Rossville was later incorporated into Piqua. Due to its origins as two separate villages, Piqua has two Main Streets, one running north and south, the other east through Shawnee. The Great Miami River flows through town.
