Plain City, Ohio is a village on the west bank of Big Darby Creek in northern Darby Township, Madison County, with a section of the village extending into Jerome Township. When the community was settled in 1795, the area was referred to as Pleasant Valley. The village was laid out in 1818, as Westminster, which was changed to Pleasant Valley in 1823. In 1851, the town changed its name to Plain City.
