Located in both Creek and Payne counties, Drumright, Oklahoma was formed after Tom Slick struck oil on the farm of Frank Wheeler, prompting a rush of oil speculators, oilfield workers and merchants. Originally known as Fulkerson, the town was incorporated as Drumright when it was incorporated in 1913.
