Elgin is in the northeastern corner of Comanche County, Oklahoma. Directly south of the community is the Fort Sill Military Reservation. The original name for the town was Ceegee, which was derived from the initials of prominent developer, Charles G. Jones; however, the U.S. Post Office objected to the name, and it was changed to Elgin in 1902.
