Enid, Oklahoma, in Garfield County, was named Skeleton Station, until 1889, when a railroad official decided it was an unseemly name for a town and for a train station. It was renamed Enid in honor of a character of Idylls of the King, by Alfred Lord Tennyson. Due to its wheat production, Enid is known as the "Wheat Capital of the United States".
