Frederick, Oklahoma is the seat of Tillman County. Prior to the incorporation of Frederick, two separate townsites were in the area, Hazel and Gosnell. In an agreement with the railroad, the citizens of Gosnell agreed to change the name of their town to Frederick, after the son of a railroad director. Shortly after, Hazel businesses relocated to Frederick, and the area was eventually absorbed.
