Guthrie is the seat of Logan County, Oklahoma. Originating in 1887 as a railway station named Deer Creek, the town's name was changed to Guthrie when its post office was established in 1889. Guthrie was the territorial capital, and later the first state capital for Oklahoma, until that was passed to Oklahoma City in 1910.
