Hooker, Oklahoma is located in Texas County, in the Oklahoma Panhandle. The area was outside of the boundaries of the surrounding territories until 1890, when it was attached to Oklahoma Territory. Settlers began homesteading the area in the 1880s, and its post office was designated in 1902, named for John "Hooker" Threlkeld, an OX Ranch foreman.
