Lahoma, in Garfield County, takes its name from the last three syllables of Oklahoma. The town was founded in 1894, after the 1893 land run into the Cherokee Outlet. Its original location was about a mile northwest of its present location, having moved in 1901 after the railroad constructed a branch line coming near the town.
