Located in Pottawatomie County, the town of Macomb was built on land owned by Hattie Vieux, who had received an Indian allotment. Its post office was opened in 1903, originally spelled McComb, which was changed to Macomb in 1915 to reflect the proper spelling ot its namesake, a Santa Fe railroad engineer.
