Situated in northern Creek County, Mannford, Oklahoma gets its name from a crossing on the Cimarron River known as Mann's Ford, named for Tom and Hazel Mann, who were alloted the land that later hosted the townsite. The Mannford post office was established in 1903. In 1958, plans were made for the construction of Keystone Reservoir, which would flood Mannford, prompting the town to move to the northwest, where it is surrounded by water on three sides.
