Owasso is a Cherokee word meaning "end of the trail", and the town of Owasso, Oklahoma was so named because, at the time, it was the terminus of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad in the Indian Territory. The town was platted in 1897 by a Dr. Win, who did much to assist the growth of the new town. While most of the town is in Tulsa County, a portion of it is in Rogers County.
