Situated in the heart of the Washita River agricultural complex, Pauls Valley is the seat of Garvin County, Oklahoma. The community was settled by Smith Paul, a North Carolinian and intermarried citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, who established a plantation sized farm at the confluence of Rush Creek and the Washita River shortly before the Civil War.
