Pond Creek, Oklahoma is in south-central Grant County. The community began as the Pond Creek Stage Station on the Chisholm Trail, about one mile north of the current town. The community moved to be nearer to the railroad after it came through in 1889-1890, and which was opened to non-Indian settlers in 1893. Originally known as Round Pond, the town was the seat of L County, which later became Grant County, from 1893 to 1908.
