Yukon, Oklahoma is in the central part of Canadian County, just outside of Oklahoma City. Historic Route 66 traverses the town, along with State Highways 4 and 92. The town was founded by A.N. Spencer in 1891, at the time that the railroad came through the area. In 1898, Yukon attracted a sizable population of Bohemians, who became Czechs after Bohemia became part of that nation, leading to Yukon being known as the Czech Capital of Oklahoma.
