Originating in 1853, when three families settled in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge and the Cascade Mountains, Cascade Locks is a city in Hood River County, Oregon, taking its name from a set of locks that were constructed to improve navigation past the Cascades Rapids of the Columbia River. The city was incorporated in 1935.
