Drain, Oregon was settled in 1847 by Warren Goodell, who received three hundred and twenty acres as a land grant from the U.S. government. Charles C. Drain emigrated to the area and purchased the land in 1861. He platted a townsite in 1872 and sold sixty acres to the Oregon and California Railroad. Pass Creek, a tributary of the Umpqua River, runs through Drain.
