Settled in the mid-1840s, Falls City was originally known as Luckiamute Falls. In 1889, the community's first post office building was established, at which time its name was changed to Pleasant Valley temporarily, but by 1891, it was changed again, this time to Falls City, and it was incorporated under that name in 1893. Falls City is in Polk County, Oregon.
