Hermiston is a city in Umatilla County, Oregon. In the 1860s, Hermiston was known for Six Mile House, an old west hotel and bar which was an overnight stop for many travelers. It was incorporated in 1907, named in honor of the Robert Louis Stevenson novel, "The Weir of Hermiston."
